AIARE 2 is a three-day course that gives you the skills, knowledge, and confidence you need to make smart decisions on your next out-of-bounds tour. You’ll expand your knowledge of human factors, terrain management, and risk-management so that you are more prepared to make smart choices in complex terrain — and guide others to do so.

How to be a leader and team player in a backcountry travel group

Managing travel in complicated terrain and heightened avalanche conditions

How to discuss and incorporate weather, terrain, and snowpack conditions into the decision-making process

Managing travel in more remote areas with scarce resources

How to analyze the snowpack in greater depth
Course Prerequisites:

Ability to travel in avalanche terrain

AIARE 1 Course or equivalent Level 1 training

AIARE or A3 approved one-day Avalanche Rescue Course

One season of backcountry travel experience after the Level 1 course
