Are you an intermediate to advanced backcountry skier or snowboarder looking to take on bigger objectives? Self-rescue and group-rescue knowledge is essential if you plan to do bigger days (or weeks) in the backcountry! This all-day, six-hour field course will cover the following topics:
Winter survival skills
How to use rescue equipment like sleds for extrication
How to build a make-shift rescue sled
Injury management while in winter, outdoor settings
How to communicate with Search and Rescue, Sheriff departments, and other external rescue resources
Please note: All participants are required to carry a beacon, shovel, and probe to leave the base area and participate in a course. Equipment rentals are available, and we recommend booking those in advance. Courses do not include access to the mountain. Each participant in your group must reserve a day pass in addition to your course unless you have a Season Pass or you’re using part of a 4 Pack or 10 Pack.
