We know our guests have questions about what the 2021/22 season will look like at Bluebird Backcountry. Our backcountry model means we’re naturally set up for minimal person-to-person contact. But we’re not stopping there.
At Bluebird Backcountry, we take our guests’ health and safety really seriously. Here’s what you need to know about skiing with us during a pandemic (never thought we’d have to say that!):
✔️ PLENTY OF ROOM TO SPREAD OUT
Max 200 guests on 1,200 inbounds acres (plus another 3,000 acres out of bounds) means it’ll be easy to find solace on the mountain. Our new location offers more skin tracks and numerous skiing zones.
✔️ NO LIFTS = NO LIFT LINES
No lift lines are always a good thing. But right now, it’s even better—it means you won’t be in close quarters with other guests on the ground or on a chair.
✔️ CONTACTLESS CHECK-IN
We’ve reimagined our check-in process and orientation so that you don’t need to go inside after picking up your pass on the first day. Lesson groups will meet outside, and we’ve streamlined the rental process to minimize indoor time.
✔️ LESSON LIMITS
Every lesson and avalanche course at Bluebird Backcountry has a limit of nine students to enhance personal instruction time—and keep group sizes under the CDC-recommended max of 10 people.
✔️ PHYSICAL DISTANCING
We will ask all guests to maintain a six-foot physical distance from people not in their party at all times. That’s easy to do when there are 200 guests on 1,200 acres of terrain. However, we will be limiting the number of people inside our warming huts and base building at any one time.
✔️ MASK REQUIREMENTS
Staff and guests will be required to wear masks or face coverings indoors, anytime we can’t maintain the six-foot distance, and when passing one another on the skin track.
✔️ SPACIOUS PARKING
Plenty of free parking in our spacious slopeside lot means you won’t have to worry about taking a shuttle or interacting with folks outside your household.
✔️ HEALTH AND SAFETY
All guests will be required to sign a waiver saying they won’t come if they are sick; all lesson participants will be given a health questionnaire before they arrive; we will train all of our employees on COVID safety and require them to do a health screening every day.
✔️ RIGOROUS CLEANING PROCEDURES
Shared spaces will be carefully cleaned multiple times each day, and rental gear will be sanitized after every use. (We’re doing this anyway!) We’ll also have hand sanitizer stations set up in shared spaces.
