This special tour of Bluebird will introduce you to the geologic past, present, and future history of Bear Mountain and surrounding areas.

Lead by a Professor of Geology, your tour will begin in the base area and meander up to the summit of West Bowl where you'll have the best view of the intrusive volcanos that dot the landscape. This tour will focus on the geologic history of the Bear Mountain vicinity, what geologic forces happened in the past to form what we currently see today and offer a forecast into the future of how geologic forces will continue to change the area.

This tour will be best suited for advanced beginner to intermediate skiers. Guests should be comfortable with their backcountry equipment and will need to carry a beacon, shovel, and probe. All guests will also need to have a day pass.

The geology tour will last approximately two hours, starting at the base at 12:30pm and finishing at the Perch at 2:30pm. Fuel up with a burrito at the base before you set out to explore!

There are three opportunities to tour with a geologist this season:
